FRIDAY 5/5/17 CALLS TO ACTION: A fool and his district are soon parted.

I’m so angry I am finding it hard say anything at all, but today we’re going to talk about health care. Specifically the bill that was passed by the US House yesterday. Everyone with any sense hates it.

Here’s a short list of some of the pre-existing conditions for which coverage would be lost under the plan Walker helped pass yesterday:

AIDS/HIV, acid reflux, acne, ADD, addiction, Alzheimer’s/dementia, anemia, aneurysm, angioplasty, anorexia, anxiety, arrhythmia, arthritis, asthma, atrial fibrillation, autism, bariatric surgery, basal cell carcinoma, bipolar disorder, blood clot, breast cancer, bulimia, bypass surgery, celiac disease, cerebral aneurysm, cerebral embolism, cerebral palsy, cerebral thrombosis, cervical cancer, colon cancer, colon polyps, congestive heart failure, COPD, Crohn’s disease, cystic fibrosis, DMD, depression, diabetes, disabilities, Down syndrome, eating disorder, enlarged prostate, epilepsy, glaucoma, gout, heart disease, heart murmur, heartburn, hemophilia, hepatitis C, herpes, high cholesterol, hypertension, hysterectomy, kidney disease, kidney stones, kidney transplant, leukemia, lung cancer, lupus, lymphoma, mental health issues, migraines, MS, muscular dystrophy, narcolepsy, nasal polyps, obesity, OCD, organ transplant, osteoporosis, pacemaker, panic disorder, paralysis, paraplegia, Parkinson’s disease, pregnancy, restless leg syndrome, schizophrenia, seasonal affective disorder, seizures, sickle cell disease, skin cancer, sleep apnea, sleep disorders, stent, stroke, thyroid issues, tooth disease, tuberculosis, ulcers.

Do you have any of these conditions? I know I do. Several, in fact. But all my illnesses just healed themselves when I found out that wealthy people would be getting a tax cut because of this. Hooray!!

Rep Walker only received 207,983 votes in his last election. I wonder how many of those 207,983 voters will be getting kicked off their insurance?

What we need to do now is to express our anger to our Congressman. There needs to be no question in his mind that he has made a grievous mistake by supporting the Republican Insurance Plan (RIP). Here is how NC’s House members voted on this bill.

SCRIPT (if you want to call him on his religious hypocrisy) : My name is _________ from __________ in the 6th District. I am calling to let Rep. Walker know that I am absolutely appalled by his vote in favor of the AHCA, the most mean-spirited, wholly unvetted health care plan I have ever seen. For a man who fancies himself a Christian, the Congressman certainly has managed to, time and again, do exactly the thing that Jesus wouldn’t do. Please let the Representative know that I will be working diligently to make sure that he is not reelected next year. Thank you for your time.

SCRIPT: My name is _________ from __________ in the 6th District. I am calling to let Rep. Walker know that I am absolutely appalled by his vote in favor of the AHCA, the most mean-spirited, wholly unvetted health care plan I have ever seen. I am someone who has benefited greatly from coverage under the Affordable Care Act.  I will not vote for someone who has such contempt for his constituents.  Please let the Representative know that I will be working diligently to make sure that he is not reelected next year. Thank you for your time.
