FRIDAY 5/19/17 CALLS TO ACTION: He says we’re not loud enough!

FEDERAL:

Just one call to action today, regarding healthcare.

House May Be Forced to Vote Again on GOP’s Obamacare Repeal Bill – “According to several aides and other procedural experts, if Republicans send the bill to the Senate now and the CBO later concludes it doesn’t save at least $2 billion, it would doom the bill and Republicans would have to start their repeal effort all over with a new budget resolution. “

Here’s how health care costs could rise for half-million in NC under GOP health plan

Follow this link for a very helpful map which shows the difference between subsidies with the Affordable Care Act and the subsidies under the Republican Insurance Plan.

“If this became law, there’s no question a lot of North Carolinians would lose their insurance because they wouldn’t be able to afford it,” said Jonathan Oberlander, who teaches health care policy at UNC-Chapel Hill. “There would be a pretty substantial erosion of heath coverage in North Carolina.”

Spoiler Alert: Randolph County subsidies would be $12,000+ less under the Republican Insurance Plan for a family of four making $40,000/yr.

Call Senators Richard Burr and Thom Tillis

Senator Burr’s office is currently soliciting input from constituents on the health care bill. This is a great opportunity to share your thoughts on what you like or don’t like about the AHCA or ACA, or even what you’d like to see health care in America look like in general. This is how democracy should work – representatives taking our input on legislation and making an informed decision based on constituent feedback.

Let’s take advantage of this opportunity.

Email Rachel_Soclof@help.senate.gov to either set up a time to talk by phone OR, better yet, give her a list of questions/issues you’d like the Senator to formally respond to.

The more people she hears from, the better. Thanks to Stronger NC for this call to action
