Health insurance comments

Wednesday July 12 is the last day to give your opinions on the ACA. Visit Regulations.gov to leave your comments on how the ACA has helped you or someone you love.

Health Insurance, Medicaid Expansion and Medical Cannabis

This is a great little video clip that shows the reason why we continue to try and engage with our legislators, even if they don’t want to listen.

From Jen Hoffman’s Activism Checklist – If you haven’t already, I urge you to sign up for Jen’s newsletter. It is always chock full of good stuff. She covers so many things on the Federal level that often get lost in the shuffle or drowned out by Trump’s daily craziness.

Action: Oppose cutting funds for kids in special education.

Call: Your two senators this week (lookup or leave message).

Script: Hi. I’m concerned about cuts to services for kids in special ed programs. I believe we have a responsibility to fully support all learners. The Senate healthcare bill strips Medicaid funding which currently covers essential tools, staff, and screenings to give these kids a fair chance. I oppose the bill for many reasons, but this one is critical. (If it affects you directly, share why.) Thanks.

Action: Oppose Ivanka and Jared doing the president’s job.

Write: Your three MoCs (lookup or leave message).

Script: I am confused about why Ivanka Trump posted a photo of herself and Jared Kushner on twitter saying, “We…are looking forward to productive discussions at the G20 Hamburg Summit!” Aren’t discussions the president’s job? Why are the president’s unelected daughter and son-in-law doing the president’s job? This makes the US look bad. Name, address

 STATE:

GOP won’t answer why monument cut from budget – Cut $200,000 for African-American “Freedom Monument” project slated for the state Capitol grounds monument then earmarked and extra $5 million for Civil War Museum in Fayetteville.

Call your legislators, both Senate and House and ask why they can earmark $5 million extra for a civil war museum which has already cost $65 million but can’t spare $200,000 for a monument dedicated to the people who were most harmed by the Lost Cause.
