Recently the Asheboro Courier-Tribune announced filing season for the 2015 municipal elections in Randolph County. Candidates may file starting Monday, July 6th at 8 a.m. and ending Friday, July 17, at noon.

Are you up to the task?

Cities with elections this cycle include Asheboro, Randleman, Ramseur, Liberty, Staley, Franklinville, Seagrove and Trinity. The Asheboro City Board of Education is also on the ballot.

The municipal general election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Archdale changed its voting cycle to coincide with the general election in 2016.

Candidates can file at the Randolph County Board of Elections office, 158 Worth St. in Asheboro. Election officials remind filers to bring either a money order or cash when they file as the office does not take personal checks or credit cards.

The Asheboro City Council has three seats up for consideration. In Franklinville, the mayoral and two commissioner seats are open. In Liberty, it is the mayor’s seat and two commissioner seats.

Ramseur voters will elect a mayor and three commissioners. Randleman voters will cast ballots for two ward seats and one at-large seat. All positions are up for election in Seagrove and Staley.

Four seats will be on the ballot in the Asheboro City Board of Education election.

Because of recent changes voted on by the General Assembly, Trinity will have only one seat on the ballot this year. That will be a newly created at-large seat. Terms of office were changed from four-year terms to two-year terms.

The filing period for Trinity also changes for this year only. Anyone interested in filing to run for the Trinity at-large seat should plan on filing beginning at 8 a.m., Monday, July 27, through noon, Friday, Aug. 7
