RCDP Education Scholarship

Randolph County Democratic Party Education Scholarship Policy

As resources allow, each year the Randolph County Democratic Party will award one or more scholarships of a $500.00 one-time payment to the student’s post secondary school.

The scholarship contest is open to high school seniors of any political affiliation who attend high school in Randolph County, at a school that is governed by one of the publicly elected school boards (currently Asheboro City Schools and Randolph County Schools).

Students will be evaluated on (1) political and/or elections work, (2) other volunteer experience, (3) other public engagement or employment, and (4) the quality of the essay, overall.

The essay will be based on the purpose statement of the Randolph County Democratic Party.

The quality of the essay will be evaluated on  (1) the student’s demonstrated understanding of the purpose statement, (2) the quality of the experience described, (3) the quality of the student’s future plans, (4) the likelihood of the student’s success, and (5) style, grammar, and spelling.

As the committee does not have the resources to evaluate students’ financial need, financial need will not be a criterion for selection.
