WEDNESDAY 5/31/17 CALLS TO ACTION: Are we there yet?

FEDERAL:

TRUMP-RUSSIA:

Keep calling about Trump’s ties to Russia. This thing is not going to right itself. We have to stay on the Republicans in Congress. They won’t do the right thing unless we pressure them to. They’ve already proven that their party is more important to them than their country. Call Senators Richard Burr and Thom Tillis and let them know you support an independent investigation into the entire Trump campaign, including VP Mike Pence, all the advisers like Flynn, Bannon and Miller and his entire cabinet and staff.

There are several scripts available on our website in past call to action posts.

Republican Insurance Plan (RIP)

Trump effect on health care: NC’s most popular plan sees 40-percent increase in deductible, out-of-pocket max – “One example of the ramifications of ending the payments: For the Blue Advantage silver plan, by far the most popular choice for enrollees in 2017, the deductible would be $500 and the out-of-pocket maximum $5,000 with the payments intact.

However, without the payments, the deductible is $700, or 40 percent higher, and the out-of-pocket maximum is $7,150, or 43 percent higher.”

Memo to GOP: My chronic disease isn’t a choice – “Instead of advancing health care in the United States, the AHCA looks backward. Its provisions return to a time when insurers could charge those with pre-existing conditions more for their insurance or impose annual and lifetime caps on benefits paid. The most vulnerable – people with chronic diseases, the elderly and children – may be at risk for financially crippling medical bills. Further, the AHCA repeals the individual mandate in Obamacare. Instead, it puts in place a continuous coverage penalty that would unfairly punish people with chronic diseases who may not be well enough to work consistently to obtain insurance through their employers or afford individual coverage.”

Call Mark Walker and tell him that his support for this bill is not only unconscionable, but unChristian, which is disappointing coming from someone who calls himself a “pastor”.
