FRIDAY 2/17/17 CALLS TO ACTION: We are better than this.

So what did y’all think of the infamous press conference yesterday? Pretty crazy, huh? It is becoming more and more obvious that the President is unhinged. Keep on talking to your legislators, letting them know that we oppose the racist, sexist, anti-worker, anti-environment, anti-immigrant, pro-Putin, pro-election tampering, unAmerican agenda that the Trump administration has put forth.

We are better than this.

Federal:

This is our last chance to block this guy. Scott Pruitt wants to dismantle the EPA Lets FLOOD it today with calls opposing him. Let lawmakers know we are WATCHING!!! KEEP UP THE PRESSURE! Please lets TWEET, CALL, EMAIL, FAX, Let’s do it all today!

Scott Pruitt, EPA nomination:

I am a constituent from Randolph County, concerned about President Trump’s nomination of Scott Pruitt to Head the Environmental Protection Agency. Pruitt would dramatically weaken the ability of the EPA to enforce environmental regulations, a significant problem for North Carolina given the recent issues with the coal ash leaks into our water. Pruitt denies that climate change is happening and that human activity is a major cause, and his inaction on this issue could cause irreparable damage to the Outer Banks. I urge Senator_________ to oppose the proposed nomination of Mr. Pruitt and to speak out against it forcefully.

House Bill 35 – PDF Text of HB35

Hello Sen./Rep. ______________. I am a constituent calling from Randolph County to express my concern about House Bill 35. This bill would require even the smallest businesses to use the eVerify system, creating unnecessary burdens for these companies. It would also essentially ban the concept of “sanctuary cities,” preventing cities from determining how they will govern themselves. Instead of scapegoating immigrants, we should work on growing our economy. Please tell Sen./Rep. _______________ to oppose HB 35.

Events

There is an anti-HB2 protest in Charlotte on Sunday next to TWC arena where the Bobcats play. NC colleges and universities have applied to host over 130 NCAA championship events. If HB2 is not repealed, NC will be shut out of all of them.

It’s time to stop this insanity and eject HB2. It’s bad for basketball, bad for business, and terrible for our state’s reputation.
