FRIDAY CALLS TO ACTION: OMG, can we rest yet? NO!

OPERATION MOVE YOUR MONEY!!!

The big banks are constantly lobbying our legislators for deregulation, backing companies like DAPL who make bad decisions! And many of the largest banks are still too big to fail! Lets move our money to small local independent banks and credit unions. If we all do this it will have a big impact! Imagine thousands of NC residents all moving their money away from BOA, BBT, Wells Fargo etc. all in the same month. It will be noticed! Here is some info on which banks are the worst, and it’s long, chances are you bank with one of them:

TRUMP ORDERS CONTINUATION OF DAPL PIPELINE, YOU CAN HELP STOP IT BY NOT SUPPORTING THESE BANKS
Keep calling about DeVos and Sessions and The Wall (see earlier posts). But here are a few other calls you can make:

Torture/Waterboarding:

Hi, I am a constituent of Sen./Rep. _________________ and I am calling to express my concern about President Trump’s recent comments on torture and waterboarding. These techniques are not only cruel and inhumane, but they are also against international law. In addition, there is increasing evidence that information obtained from waterboarding is unreliable. Using these techniques also places our soldiers in greater danger. As a resident of North Carolina, a state that has a long tradition of supporting the military, I would urge Sen./Rep. ___________________ to speak out against Trump’s endorsement of waterboarding.

Protect the Arts and Humanities:

Hi, I am a constituent of Sen./Rep. _________________ and I am calling to urge him/her to vote against any bill that would defund arts programs such as the NEH and NEA. These programs are a tiny part of the overall budget, but they have a dramatic educational and economic impact in local communities. In North Carolina, NEH funding has helped support libraries in Durham and Charlotte, as well as at Mars Hill College. I would like to strongly encourage Sen./Rep. ________________ to vote against any budget that excludes funding for these programs.

Andy Pudzer Labor Nomination:

Hi, I am a constituent of Senator _________and I am calling to urge you to strongly oppose Andy Pudzer for Secretary of Labor. His record as CEO of CKE Industries speaks for itself with 2/3 of women employees reporting sexual harassment and the 4th highest reports of wage theft in the industry. He opposes both a raise in the minimum wage and paid sick leave, issues which are absolutely vital to workers all over the country. Vote no on Andy Puzder and demand a better candidate. I will be watching your vote on this very closely.
