THURSDAY 3/2/17 CALLS TO ACTION: Sessions MUST Go!

First things first: no doubt you’ve heard by now that then Senator, now Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III perjured himself when testifying about whether or not he had any contact with Russia in the lead up to the election.

Pelosi Statement on Attorney General Sessions’ Apparent Perjury on Russian Meetings

Sessions MUST resign:

I am a constituent of Rep./ Sen. ______________ and I am calling to call for the resignation of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General. Multiple media outlets are reporting that he lied under oath about contact with Russian officials while he was a member of the Trump campaign. Moreover, Trump appears to have known about these lies and attempted to cover them up. As a citizen, I demand that Sessions resign, and that his successor appoint a special prosecutor to fully investigate Trump’s Russia ties.

ACA Repeal: Call your Representative

I am a constituent of Rep. ______________ and I am calling to urge him/her to vote against repealing the Affordable Care Act. Repealing the ACA would have a devastating effect on the millions of Americans who rely on it to access their health care.

  • Repeal would take away the popular CHIP program that guarantees health insurance to children.
  • It would allow insurance companies to deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions
  • It would prevent parents from keeping children on their policies until they turn 26, which will, in turn, make college less affordable for working families.
  • Repeal would also devastate the economy, costing the country thousands of jobs.

If Rep. __________ does not vote against repeal of the ACA, I will donate to and support his/her opponent in the upcoming election.

STATE:

COOPER’S BUDGET PLAN:

Hello, I am a constituent in zip code _____________ and I am calling to urge Sen./Rep. _____________ to support Roy Cooper’s proposed state budget. The governor is attempting to bring teacher pay, which is currently 41st in the nation, up to national standards. It is critical that North Carolina invest in strong public schools.

SB 145

http://www.wbtv.com/story/34627944/senator-wants-penalties-for-cities-that-defy-immigration-laws

Republican State Senator Sanderson, with the direct support of Phil Berger, has introduced a mean-spirited and misguided bill that would punish cities and universities in the public system financially and legally if they fail to comply with federal and state immigration law to the absolute letter. This flies in the face of current best practices used by law enforcement, who in most cases choose to work with undocumented people so they can help report crime and keep their communities safe. Using fear to push people into the shadows makes both immigrants and the communities in which they live and work less stable.

Hello, I am a constituent in zip code _____________ and I am calling to urge Sen./Rep. _____________ to oppose SB 145, which punishes local communities for creating any kind of safe space for immigrants to report crime and keep themselves and their communities safe. I urge Sen./Rep. _____________ to instead push for common sense ways to reform the immigration system in North Carolina and the nation as a whole. Thank you for your time.
