WEDNESDAY CALL TO ACTION: Buckle up, we’ve got some callin’ to do!

There’s been a lot going on in the Oval Office the last day or so. It has come to our attention that various agencies throughout our Federal government have been ordered to stop releasing scientific information to the public, especially in regards to things like climate change and the effects of the fossil fuel industry. If you are as concerned as we are, please take a moment to call your Senators and Representative.

EPA and USDA Muzzling

Hello, Sen./Rep. ___________. I am a constituent, and I am calling because I am concerned by President Trump’s actions to restrict the US Department of Agriculture and the EPA from publicly releasing scientific discoveries. It is absolutely vital that these organizations be able to communicate scientific research to the public. I am calling on Sen./Rep. _______________ to speak out against this ban and to stand up for the role of these organizations in promoting scientific knowledge.

We all have heard about this ridiculous wall….

Building a Wall

Hello, Sen./Rep. ___________. I am a constituent, and I am calling because I am concerned by President Trump’s announcement that he is planning to build a wall on the Mexican border. Building the wall is a waste of taxpayer money that will cost over $50 billion by some estimates and will do nothing to reduce illegal immigration. It also ignores current research, which shows that the number of unauthorized immigrants living in the U.S. has actually stabilized in recent years. Trump’s plans to block refugees from war-torn countries is also an inhumane act that is in violation of our country’s core principles. I am calling on Sen./Rep. _______________ to speak out against President Trump’s costly and inhumane executive orders on national security.

And then there are the claims that 3 million people voted illegally in the presidential election. I’m going to need to see proof of that, and not some nonsense from a right-wing propaganda site, either. Put up or shut up.

Investigate Voter Fraud

Hello, Sen./Rep. ___________. I am a constituent, and I am calling because I am concerned by President Trump’s unproven claims about widespread voter fraud. President Trump has claimed, without evidence, that five million votes were cast illegally in the last election. If this is true, then it represents a major crisis for democracy. If it is not true, then President Trump is playing a dangerous game of undermining faith in our elections and potentially opening the door for serious voter suppression. I am calling on Sen./Rep. _______________ to demand that President Trump release any evidence he might have or to call on him to stop spreading misinformation about our elections.
