WEDNESDAY 4/19/17 CALLS TO ACTION: The conflicts just keep on coming.

FEDERAL:

The Call – #ConflictsOfInterest (S.65/H.R.371)

(from theloyalopposition.net)

Urge your senators to support The Presidential Conflicts of Interest Act of 2017. The legislation is currently under consideration in both the House (H.R.371) and the Senate (S.65) and would require the President to divulge his tax returns and divest financial assets which create a conflict of interest.

Unlike all previous presidents, President Trump has declined to divest financial assets which create a conflict of interest. Instead, he created a revocable trust in favor of his sons to run his business, an arrangement deemed inadequate by ethics experts, which has since been further weakened by a provision to permit to Trump to take out funds at will and an agreement to provide regular financial reports to Trump.

The Atlantic keeps a running tally of Trump’s numerous and mounting conflicts of interest. A lawsuit working its way through the courts alleges Trump Organization business with foreign governments at hotels and other properties violates the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution. One of many recent examples is a decision by the government-controlled Turkish Business Council to hold a major conference at Trump’s DC hotel.

The April 15th Tax Marches in 200 cities attest to voters’ continuing concern about Trump’s conflicts and potential corruption. America deserves to know if the President is a crook.

Call your members of Congress to urge them to support The Presidential Conflicts of Interest Act of 2017 (S.65/H.R.371).

Script  Hi. This is [NAME] and I’m a constituent in [ZIP].  I’m calling because I want [Sen/Rep____] to support (S.65/H.R.371), which would require the President to divest financial assets which create a conflict of interest. I’m very concerned about the appearance of corruption and think this legislation would go a long way to solving the problem.  I appreciate your time!

Democracy NC Calls for Criminal Investigation of McCrory Conspiracy Against NC Voters

“The report entitled The Deceit of Voter Fraud is a product of a five-month investigation into false allegations of voter misconduct and uncovers a pattern of unsubstantiated charges of election fraud and irregularities, without regard for the harassment and harmful impact on innocent voters. Democracy North Carolina is calling for a criminal investigation by state and federal agencies into these findings of wrongdoing.”

People’s Climate March –  Join us April 29th in Washington, DC to let Trump know that we won’t let him pollute the air and wreck the climate on our watch!  There is no denying it: Donald Trump’s election is a threat to the future of our planet, the safety of our communities, and the health of our families. If the policies he proposed on the campaign trail are implemented, they will destroy our climate, decimate our jobs and livelihoods, and undermine the civil rights and liberties won in many hard-fought battles. It’s up to us to stop that from happening before it starts.
