FRIDAY 3/17/17 CALLS TO ACTION: Maybe St. Patrick can drive the snakes out of the GOP

Thank you to everyone who is calling, writing, faxing and using social media to contact your elected officials. Your effort is not in vain, as pointed out in this article:

This is what it’s like answering all those phone calls to Congress – Washington Post (note: if you’ve used up all your free views at WAPO, go to Google and search the title of this article. When you visit the link from a Google search it will usually let you by that paywall. ? Sneaky.)

CONTACT THE NCGA HOUSE REPRESENTATIVES

Governor Roy Cooper has vetoed House Bill 100 which would make state trial court elections partisan

The NCGOP can’t stop stripping every last vestige of power from the governor and from the people of North Carolina. HB 100 would make superior and district court races partisan again. Governor Cooper has vetoed this bill, but the legislature is threatening to override the veto and make it state law. Expect gerrymandered court districts to come soon, which will further undermine fair elections.

In the 90s, in an effort to remove politics from judicial decisions, these races were made non-partisan. The GOP dominates the legislature, they have limited the governor’s power, and now they want to taint the courts with politics as well? We must say no. Six GOP House members voted against it, so it is important to put the pressure on.

Scripts: (one for dems who oppose it, one for GOPs who support it, and a special one for GOPs who voted against it. Call, email, and fax. The more ways we communicate our message, the better!

**As you can probably guess, our Randolph County House delegation is in the “support” column. Very rarely do our Representatives go against what the GOP dictates they do. Party before people is the name of the game.
